Still In Transition……

September 25, 2008 | Everyday Life

I have not posted in a while and it’s due to me being in a transition phase at the moment. I’ve moved to Louisiana for 6 months and my apartment is still not ready yet so I will be in a hotel for a couple more days. My deadline to get my website ready is not looking so good so I will be pushing that back for a little bit…Sorry It hurts me too. I will be posting something (anything) the next time I promise. Work is great by the way. I am learning a whole lot. Sometimes I don’t even know which one I like better – Being an Electrical Engineer or a Photographer. Both has its good and bad and it’s not so easy to choose but I am living it one day at a time and letting God lead me in his own path. Speaking of which I’m looking for a church while in Louisiana. Although I attended a service last Sunday (it was great) but I’m such a picky freak. We’ll see how that goes. If you have any ideas, drop me a comment.

I get to see a football game in New Orleans next week so that’s quite exciting…… I am rambling so I MUST stop now.

Here’s an image I took of my girlfriend a while back (I think I have posted this before). I miss her so there goes that…..I guess we are doing the Long Distance thing which is working out quite well by the way. I think I get to see her soon!

Enjoy!

One Cool 50th Birthday Celebration

September 18, 2008 | Events

What do you do when you turn 50? Well…You get your family together and have a big party, good food and dance all night. Don’t forget you also get a cool gift from your husband. My girlfriend’s mom turned 50 on the 1st of September and last weekend was the party to celebrate with all the family from all the corners of the world. She doesn’t look anything close to 50 though. More like 30 Something!

Anyways I wasn’t the official photographer which was great so I got to party hard and have fun. I did take a couple of photos though just for the sake of it. I think I had way too much food which was so good.

I played around with adding video lights to some shots which was pretty cool…Nothing fancy though as I wasn’t doing anything major. I did get one which I have processed in a very weird way to bring back some old feel. I don’t know but I thought I’d post it anyway since I like the burst of light that I captured. I sometimes want a strong backlit image so that is one of them. I think I took 50 photos tops all day which is good cos I never seem to know when to put down my camera but it’s all good.

Enjoy.

By the way when you turn 50 you also get a brand new Mercedes C Class so that you can roll big! I want one of those too….In due time I guess…LOL!

Tobi + Melissa :: Traditional Engagement Ceremony

September 17, 2008 | Engaged

I’ve been meaning to blog this for a while but haven’t had a chance too. I’ve gotten quite a number of request to blog some images so here they are. I’m a big fan of B&W images and I think they work well for most of my images. The processing is a bit different from what I normally do but I’m really liking these at the moment.

One thing about African weddings is the traditional aspect of the whole ceremony. It’s more of a big meeting place for all the family members from both sides and kind of tells a story of how the bride and groom both met. It’s a cultural thing and it sure shows a different approach to what weddings. I’ve been to so many of these that I know what to expect at any time but this one was quite different since the bride is from Uganda. It’s a pretty similar ceremony to Nigerian traditional engagement ceremonies but this one was quite unique with the way things were done. I saw the traditional Ugandan outfit for the first time which was quite interesting and very colorful. The ladies do give a whole lot of respect to their husbands and it was incredible to see how it all went down. There was also the groom going belly flat on the floor to pay his respect to the bride’s family and officially asking for her hand in marriage. Anyways it was a fun time all in all.

Here are a few to see:

Back on Track

September 16, 2008 | Everyday Life

I am back from Oklahoma after a long weekend for my girlfriend’s mum’s 50th birthday celebration. I also had to move some of my things from Tulsa to Louisiana since my 4 weeks has gladly changed to 6 months. I use the word “gladly” because I just love it here since I get to do a lot of field work for my company. Trust me it rocks. How this new development will affect my photography is not known but I hope it doesn’t. Anyways enjoy this image of the Oklahoma State Capitol below

It think it’s a pretty cool building. I was there friday to turn in some paper work.

I will post some of my photos from the 50th birthday celebration later this week. I wasn’t the official photographer so it gave me the chance to enjoy the celebration without worrying too much about shooting. I had loads of fun! More from that soon.

Enjoy!
