The Band
June 29, 2009 | Everyday Life
Here’s a band that plays some pretty cool music down in the French Quarters in New Orleans. They are pretty awesome. I wanted to show how important it is for these guys to go home with a little “something” in their box after a long day of performing. After all, this is how they get paid and survive till the next gig. If you come across people like this, give them a little “something”. They will truly appreciate it.
Have a nice week
Weston

This is Weston. He’s originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico but moved to New Orleans last year. He’s been playing the eucalele for about a year and he’s also an incredible guitar player. It was fun chatting with him.
I love including some digital noise in my black and whites
I really can’t help it. It’s my style!

Have a nice week!
Magic Mike + Skippy
June 8, 2009 | Everyday Life

Here is Magic Mike and his pet skippy. Yes you read that right. Skippy is Magic Mike’s buddy and they’ve been hanging together for about 2 years. He’s a ball juggler from Morgan City, Louisiana and has been doing it for 20 years. Trust me, ball juggling is not as easy as it looks, plus the ball is quite heavy too. I tried playing with it but failed during both attempts
One other cool thing about Magic Mike is that he gives half of his body a paint job which is quite common with a bunch of other street performers.
I do like all the colors going on behind as it complements the main subjects quite nicely.

Blog y’all later.
From my on-going project

Meet Tyrone. He’s a New Orleans resident and loves to enjoy life! I was immediately drawn to him when I saw the smiley face balloon around he’s neck and the fact that he was rocking a sweater in the 89°F humid weather which felt more like 94°F. I was able to talk to him for a few minutes to get to know more about him, which also led me to meeting one of his friends. He’s such an interesting character and he also likes when people take photos of him
It was definitely great hanging with this cool dude!
I am including him in my project which I am having a swell time with because I get to meet a lot of cool people. They are ordinary people you probably won’t want to talk to if you see them passing by but, meeting people like this to me is very exciting. It gives me the opportunity to connect with them not only as a photographer but as a person and I think it is way too cool.
Blog you later.
